Nifty trades above 10,450 mark; Realty, Pharma Index up

Indices remained in a rangebound around previous closing values, after hitting record highs in the opening. The BSE Sensex is trading higher led by L&T, ICICI Bank, Maruti and Tata Motors.

At 11:38 AM, the BSE Sensex was trading at 33,869, up 32 points, while the Nifty50 was ruling at 10,476, up 13 points.

HDFC Bank informed exchanges that the board of directors today has approved raising of funds aggregating up to Rs24,000cr.

Shares of Strides Shasun jumped 3%. The pharmaceutical company plans to acquire 55% stake in South Africa-based Trinity Pharma for a cash consideration of Rs27.5cr.

Shares of the Morepen Lab rose as much as 14% after it received a green signal from US drug regulator for its drug - Montelukast Sodium, used to treat asthma.

In broader markets, the BSE Midcap was up 0.53%, while BSE Smallcap gained 0.89%.

PSU Bank, Metal, Pharma and Bank Nifty Index are the top losers on the NSE, while Nifty Realty, Pharma, IT, Metal, Media and Auto Index were the top gainers.

Lupin (+2.4%), ONGC (+1.9%), Hero MotoCorp (+1.8%), GAIL (+1.5%) and Bajaj Finance (+1.3%) were the top gainers on the Nifty50.

Dr. Reddy’s (-1.4%), Tata Steel (-1.3%), HPCL (-1.09%), Adani Ports (-0.96%) and Kotak Mahindra Bank (-0.92%) were the top losers in today’s trade.

India VIX dropped 0.88%.

Out of 1,987 stocks traded on the NSE, 1,138 advanced, 476 declined and 373 remained unchanged today.

A total of 117 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while five stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
