Opening Bell - Nifty, Sensex opens at all-time high

At 9:15 AM, the BSE Sensex opened higher by 91 points at 31896, while the Nifty50 opened higher by 21 points at the 9807 mark.

ITC was top Sensex gainer and was trading at Rs 333.8 per share, up by 1.55% whereas ONGC was top Sensex loser and was trading at Rs 162 per share, down by 0.09% at the opening bell on Thursday.

There were 995 advances, 375 declines and 475 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting strong positive sentiments in the market. All the sectoral indices on BSE were trading in positive territory.

BSE Mid-cap index was trading at 15177 level, up by 93 points while BSE Small-cap index was trading at 15981 level, up by 84 points. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation was top gainer in Mid-cap index while Lypsa Gems was top gainer in Small-cap index.

BSE Mid-cap index touched its all-time high of 15187 level while BSE Small-cap index also touched its life-time high of 15982 level.

Important quarterly financial results to watch out for is TCS. The stock was trading at Rs 2465 per share, up by 1.06% on BSE at the opening bell.

he Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 123 points to close at 21,532, S&P 500 rose 18 points to finish at 2,443 and the Nasdaq Composite index advanced 68 points to 6,261.

Asian stocks rallied in early trade on Thursday after a firm close in the US market. Hong Kong's Hang Seng is leading the way, trading with gains of 240 points, followed by Japan’s Nikkei 225 which has advanced 31 points and China’s Shanghai Composite which has moved up by 3 points.
