Markets hit fresh record of closing highs

Nifty closed at 9,816 level, up by 30 points and Sensex closed at 31,804 level, up by 57 points on July 12.

Broader market indices gained the most in Wednesday’s trade, outperforming the major indices in the market. BSE Mid-cap index closed at 15,084 level, up by 161 points or 1.08% while BSE Small-cap index closed at 15,897 level, up by 90 points or 0.57%.

Biocon was the top gainer in the BSE Mid-cap index closed at Rs 367.3 per share, up by 13.68%. Lypsa Gems was the top gainer in the BSE Small-cap index closed at Rs 45.7 per share, up by nearly 20%.

Bank Nifty index had a volatile trade on one day before its weekly expiry on Wednesday. Private sector banks like ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Yes Bank and Axis Bank closed higher pushing the Bank Nifty in positive territory in closing hours. Orient Bank was the top gainer in Nifty PSU Bank index closed at Rs 150.35 per share, up by 2.7%.

Reliance Industries Limited gained on the back of revised tariff plans for Jio. The stock closed at fresh nine years high at Rs 1,511 per share, up by Rs 15.8 per share or 1.06%.

Housing Finance companies gained in Wednesday’s trading session. Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) was star performer of the day. The stock closed at Rs 90.4 per share, up by 15.31%. Other housing finance stocks like Gruh Finance, PNB Housing Finance and Indiabulls Housing Finance gained above 2%.

BSE Oil & Gas index was the top gaining index on BSE. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation closed at Rs 359.3 per share, up by Rs 17.35 per share or 5.07%. ONGC, BPCL, IOC and GAIL gained more than 1% on Wednesday.

Recently listed stocks like AU Small Finance Bank and CDSL gained over 17% and 7%, respectively on Wednesday. AU Small Finance Bank closed at Rs per share, up by Rs 62.3 per share or nearly 11%. CDSL closed at Rs 403.95 per share, up by Rs 22.25 per share or 5.8%.
