Live Stock Market Updates – Nifty back on 9800 level, Markets trade in narrow range

Nifty regained its 9800 level after sliding marginally from its highs. Sensex traded above 31,800 level.

Nifty Metal is the top losing index in Tuesday’s morning session. It is down 0.24% at 3122 level.

Vedanta and Coal India are dragging the index to lower levels, Vedanta is trading down 0.3% at Rs 259.90 per share and Coal India is trading down 0.5% at Rs 257.45 per share.

Other stocks in the index viz. Jindal Steel & Power is down 1.8% at Rs 131.95 per share, National Aluminium Company is down 1.2% at Rs 67.10 per share, JSW Steel is down 0.8% at Rs 216.25 per share, SAIL is down 0.3% at Rs 62.75 per share and APL Apollo Tubes is also down by 0.04% at Rs 1599.90 per share.

At 11 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 31,805 up 90 points, while Nifty is trading at 9802 up 31 points. A total of 48 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 8 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading down 0.02% at 15,044, while BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.23% at 15,935.

Some buying activity is seen in Healthcare, IT , Auto indices, while Oil & Gas, Metal and Consumer Durables indices are showing weakness on BSE.

Tata Motors, Infosys and Tata Motors DVR are among the gainers whereas Cipla, Bharti Airtel and ONGC are losing on the NSE.

The INDIA VIX is up 0.2% at 10.9.
