Live Stock Market Updates: Nifty above 9800; Bank Nifty turns red

Nifty has slipped from its day’s high of 9823 level. The index has strong support at 9709 level whereas 9825 can be the immediate resistance level.

Bank Nifty index was trading in negative territory at 23567 level, down by 11 points. Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, Kotak Bank and ICICI Bank are among the losers in Bank Nifty index.

Broader market indices have been outperforming major indices in the market. Kirloskar Electric Company was top gainer in BSE Small-cap index trading at Rs 49.25 per share, up by 12.31%.

Tilaknagar Industries was second top gainer in BSE Small-cap index, trading at Rs 14.2 per share, up by 12.08%.

At 10 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 31815 up 68 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 9810 up 23 points. A total of 34 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 11 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.39% at 14981, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.37% at 15864.

Some buying activity is seen in Capital Goods, Metal, Pharma, Auto while IT, Finance are showing weakness on BSE.

IOC, Hindustan Unilever, Reliance Industries, Ambuja Cements and ONGC are among the gainers, whereas Indiabulls Housing Finance, TCS, Asian Paints and HDFC are losing sheen on NSE in the first trading hour.

The INDIA VIX is up 1.58% at 11.06.
