Markets weekly wrap-up: GAIL tops losing list
Equity benchmark indices ended the session and the week on a positive note, with the Nifty closing firmly above 9650.
The Sensex ended up 135.70 points at 31273.29, while the Nifty closed higher by 37.40 points at 9653.50.
The market breadth was narrow as 1,450 shares advanced against a decline of 1,243 shares, while 162 shares were unchanged.
On a weekly basis, the Nifty50 and the 30-share index has gained 0.5%, till the Friday. The sectoral side shows Nifty Pharma the top gaining index rising 5.6%, till the week ended on Friday.
On the stock specific front, GAIL Limited was the top losing Nifty50 stock and was down by 1.95% on a weekly basis.
Other stocks such as Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) was down by 1.92%, Indiabulls Housing Finance was down by 1.15%, Tata Steel was down by 1%, Vedanta was down by 1% on a weekly basis.
