Bank Nifty at record high; HDFC Bank top gainer

Bank Nifty opened at record high of 23630 level higher by 63 points on Thursday. The index touched its intraday high of 23659 level as of 0918 hours.

HDFC Bank is the top gainer trading higher by 0.74% at Rs 1653 per share. Other Private bank stocks like ICICI Bank, Federal Bank, IndusInd Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank are trading in a positive territory higher by up to 0.4%.

PSU Bank stocks like Orient Bank, Bank of India, Union Bank of India are also trading in green at the opening bell.

On the derivatives front, Bank Nifty 15-June 24000 CE and 23000 PE have witnessed maximum open interest on Thursday. Bank Nifty futures of June series is trading at 23610 level as of 0926 hours at a discount of 23 points. It had closed at a discount of 8 points at 23559 level on Wednesday.

As per market analysts, Bank Nifty will probably rise in today’s trading session. Bank stocks seem to have reacted positively to the RBI’s neutral stance in Wednesday's second Bi-monthly Monetary Policy review.

F&O: Put writing at all immediate strikes shows Nifty may hold up  The Nifty50 index opened in the negative but managed to recover sharply from lower levels and headed towards the 10,750 level on Wednesday. It formed a Piercing Line pattern on the daily scale, as it recovered its losses of the last session by more than a half. It has been making lower lows from last four sessions and holds above the 10,750-10,777 zone can negate the same to extend its recent bounce towards 10,850 and then 10,929 levels.  Nifty has reclaimed its 50-day EMA while on the downside it has support at 10,650 and then 10,600 levels.  On the options front, maximum Put OI was at 10,000 followed by 10,500 and 10,700 levels, while maximum Call OI was at 11,000 followed by 10,900 level.
