Live Stock Market Updates: Nifty continues to trade weak; TCS gains on buyback plans
The Nifty IT index is trading higher though the major indices in the markets are trading in red and the bears are dominating the Thursday’s trade.
The IT giant TCS is the top gainer in the Nifty IT index trading higher by around 3.2% at Rs 2535.45 per share. The stock has been gaining owing to the company’s buyback plans.
Wipro Limited is also trading higher by 2.5% at Rs 523.3 per share.
There are 446 advances, 1186 declines and 317 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting that the bears are dominating in the market.
At 2 PM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 30540 down 118 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 9461 down 64 points. HDFC and Reliance is the biggest contributor to the Sensex losses. A total of 46 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 22 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading down 1.2% at 14895, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading down 0.93% at 15534.
Some buying activity is seen in Information Technology sector, while Oil & Gas, Energy, Finance, Telecom are showing weakness on BSE.
TCS, Wipro, Infosys, HCL Tech and Bank of Baroda are among the gainers, whereas Ultratech Cement,, Hindalco, Yes Bank, Bharti Infratel, Axis Bank and Grasim are losing sheen on NSE.
The INDIA VIX is up 8.5% at 11.54.
